Hello, thank you for the question. As we know, Lightweight M2M (LwM2M) is a communication protocol from the Open Mobile Alliance designed for sensor networks and the demands of the machine-to-machine (M2M) environments. It is a standard for managing lightweight and low power devices on a variety of networks. Nokia promotes standardization to ensure the safety, quality and reliability of products and services, reduce the costs supporting economies of scale, interoperability and testing and accelerate the business avoiding very specific proprietary projects. In that way, Nokia already deployed LwM2M in the IMPACT IoT Device Management Platform to be able to support the customers to deploy better IoT solutions. Unfortunately, the industry adoption of LwM2M is still reduced. Massive IoT is not only related to the communication protocol, but also to the networks. Massive IoT applications are a natural fit for low-power wide-area networks (LPWANs). These cellular networks match the requirements of a massive IoT deployment and, crucially, can be built on existing advanced LTE technologies like LTE-Machine (LTE-M) and Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT), which utilize narrower bandwidths optimized for low throughput applications. Low data flows currently work with 2G, 3G and 4G cellular networks and will only further the capabilities of 5G when it becomes widely available. Nokia is also involved in initiatives to speed-up the Massive IoT customer deployments, independently of the solution and the geography. Nokia’s Worldwide IoT Network Grid or WING is a one-stop-shop IoT enablement managed service coupled with flexible pay-as-you-grow business models that allows to quickly launch new IoT services with minimal investment. It includes 2G/3G and LTE (including LTE-M and NB-IoT). WING is also deploying 5G SA including Massive Machine Type Communications (mMTC). Nokia Digital Automation Cloud (DAC) is a high-performance, end-to-end private wireless networking and edge computing platform designed to meet the mission-critical needs of asset-intensive industries, governments, cities and webscale businesses. Hope this was useful. I wish you a lot of success.
