It helps us better cope with stress, boost confidence, and improve performance when facing career challenges. Networking, mentorship, and engaging with diverse groups can significantly influence professional growth.

My top advice for everyone is simple yet powerful: always surround yourself with peers you can look up to. This idea has been key to my personal and professional growth, and I believe it can greatly impact your career path. There's a special feeling when you're in a room with people you admire for their knowledge and skills. It's like you become smarter just by being around them. This kind of environment not only gives you many chances to learn but also pushes you to become the best version of yourself. Our lives are dynamic and we keep on learning something new each day which helps us explore what is out there but also what is in us that we have not necessarily realized otherwise. Keeping an open & growth-oriented mindset helps you overcome your fears and extend your accomplishments. In my career, every time I stepped into unknown territory, I first tried to educate myself as much as possible, and when I struggled I also internalized it as part of the journey.

I took the leap twice - once when changing my role function (from accounting to recruiting), and secondly, industry-wise when joining Nokia. I did not regret either of those decisions and I feel this is where I belong. Don't be afraid to pursue your passion, with dedication and consistency your career aspirations can become a reality.

I learned with my own personal experience, that we only know better our own culture, education, bias, and our own self, when we have lived at least few years in a different country and different culture (especially amongst locals). These (many years living in different countries and cultures) have expanded my horizon and my own identity, both professionally and especially personally. There is an emotional cost of "expatriating" oneself, but it is also truly a gift. There are many things that we cannot fully comprehend with only short visit, books or else, they have to be experienced over and over.

From being a mere graduate to immersing myself in real software challenges in one corner of the world, and then transcending continents to make my mark in the software industry once again as a Software Engineer at Nokia, my journey over the years is not just a testament to my hard work and ambitions, but also a reminder that we are capable of achieving far beyond our initial expectations when we summon the courage to step out of our comfort zones.
