Justin N. asked a question to Catia M.
For example, if someone works in marketing but wants to deepen their knowledge in complementary areas such as digital technologies, data analytics, AI, or business transformation, is this kind of cross-functional learning encouraged as part of employees' professional development?
Yes, Nokia offers plenty of opportunities for employees to explore skills outside their main roles, though how much this is encouraged can depend on your manager and team priorities. It’s always a good idea to have an open conversation with your manager about your goals since the begining, to see what’s possible.
What I find more exciting is that Nokia has free training programs and coaching, and initiatives like job rotations, and "Gigs" - short-term assignments with other teams—that let you dip your toes into new areas. Job rotations give you a chance to work with a different team temporarily, while Gigs offer bite-sized assignments with other teams, that let you contribute to something impactful and learn new skills along the way. These programs are designed to help you grow and explore your interests.
Of course, participation in these programs often depends on timing and workload, but Nokia encourages employees to take charge of their own development. If you’re proactive, there’s a lot of room to expand your horizons and make your career journey even more rewarding.
