Hi Yalamanchili S.,

We can give a few examples of edge technologies that Nokia is working on now that require software development.

For example, we can start with the Metaverse world and its technologies, thus we can watch 3 trends in this environment:
- New devices that make metaverse experiences easier, cheaper, or more enriching to experience. Advances in smart glasses and heads-up displays could be particularly game-changing.
- Emerging applications that make the metaverse more compelling, such as co-creation opportunities, monetization of user-generated content, or new social experiences.
- New platforms that make it easier to develop and deliver metaverse applications and content – especially for mixed reality (MR) and extended reality (XR) experiences.

Another example is Industry 4.0 and its whole mix of technologies, including 5G, private LTE, artificial intelligence, machine learning and the Internet of Things.

To finalize this overview regarding what Nokia has in edge technologies that require software development is the Network Openness 2030 project where we will see a new world of network-as-a-service using the 5G and 6G networks, using flexible components and open APIs that will be the key to success and those needs will require CSPs to work with webscalers, ISVs, hardware providers and others to develop specialist solutions.

As you can see, all of these types of technologies demand some sort of software development.

I hope my answer can help you. Good luck!

Kind regards,
Francisco Souza
