I have served my most of the time in sales but I always wanted to be a part of operations career, suggest me on that.

    Hello,

Thank you for the interesting question.

In my experience, I’ve observed that many people aspire to transition into Sales, while the reverse is less common. Here’s how I perceive the key differences between Sales and Operations:

Sales is fundamentally driven by revenue, profitability, customer trust, and relationship-building. It demands a strong connection with customers and a deep understanding of their expectations. Success in Sales requires staying vigilant about competitors, ensuring our products and solutions align with evolving customer needs, and consistently staying ahead with innovative strategies.

Operations, on the other hand, encompasses various domains such as Sales Operations, Delivery and Network Operations, and Supply Chain Management. It is more internally focused, heavily reliant on KPIs, and often requires round-the-clock monitoring and control. Unlike Sales, Operations emphasizes discipline over relationship-building. Day-to-day responsibilities include leveraging tools and analytics, managing escalations, conducting reviews, and actively engaging with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes. Timeliness is critical, as even a single missed action can result in financial repercussions or penalties.

If you find excitement in this dynamic, fast-paced, and detail-oriented environment, then Operations might be the perfect fit for you. I wish you the best.
