Feedback and recognition from colleagues is important -especially in a matrix organisation where people work in remote, virtual teams. When people turn to you for advice, using you as a sounding board or involving you in brainstorming for new ideas and appreciate your contribution.
This can be after a training, a workshop or simply help with a more complex problem, or tackling a new situation.
This positive feedback is often more important than coming from superiors, and is a sign of good teamwork, too.
