Hi John M., We can briefly summarise what we are working on to be distinguished from the other competitors. Nokia is creating the technology that helps the world act together as our main slogan. We are focused on the responsibility to enable digitalization in partnership with our customers so our technology can help meet some of the most pressing challenges the world faces such as climate change, the digital divide, and stalling productivity growth. Recently Nokia’s renewed operating model has been designed to enable the delivery of our strategic ambitions, with a lean corporate center enabling fully accountable business groups. Nokia has four business groups with each business group aiming to become a technology and market leader in their respective sector. For example, the business group of Mobile Networks provides products and services for radio access networks covering technologies from 2G to 5G, and microwave radio links for transport networks. The business group of Network Infrastructure provides fiber, copper, fixed wireless access technologies, IP routing, data center, subsea, and terrestrial optical networks – along with related services – to customers including communications service providers, webscale (including hyperscalers), digital industries and governments. Under the business group of Cloud and Network Services Cloud and Network Services, enables the CSPs and enterprises to deploy and monetize 5G, cloud-native software, and as-a-Service delivery models. And to complete our last business group, Nokia Technologies is responsible for managing Nokia’s patent portfolio and monetizing Nokia’s intellectual property including patents, technologies, and the Nokia brand. Additionally, our new Strategy and Technology function launched the Nokia Technology Vision 2030 setting out the opportunities we expect to see from trends such as human augmentation and digital-physical fusion as we move from 5G to 5G-Advanced and then 6G by the end of this decade. Technology is central to solving the biggest global challenges of our time. Nokia wants to lead the global stage in making the case for digitalization as central to addressing the climate challenge. We clearly demonstrated that sustainability is core to our business and embedded into the design, delivery, and life cycle of our products and service. We also take seriously the role of connectivity in building a fairer and more inclusive world. We aim to connect the unconnected and support digital skills to close the digital divide, providing equal access to opportunity. Our aim is to provide critical networks that enable digital access to healthcare, education, employment, social services, businesses and markets. We are also proud that, for the fourth time in a row, we were recognized as one of the World’s Most Ethical companies by the Ethisphere Institute. We have identified 10 trends that will shape the future of critical networks and influence the distribution of value and the future competitive landscape within the industry ecosystems. So we are working hard and adding all efforts to keep this growth and development of new technologies to keep as one of the biggest leading in the market. And what I personally like at Nokia is the culture. We can match a mix of an excellent work-life balance, with an immersive learning track, providing you with many opportunities to grow in your professional career and as a person. Join our #TeamNokia and also experience this culture. Kind regards, Francisco Souza

I think that the characteristic that distinguishes Nokia is Innovation. We have over 20,000 patents with over 3000 directly related to 5G. This innovation engine is the heart of Nokia. I will add that we have an ethical organization with a rich history and a culture that fosters an Open, Fearless, and Empowered workplace.

In my opinion, a big differentiating factor is the amazing company culture that is built and maintained by everyone working here. I also very much agree with all the points that Francisco raised up about what Nokia provides to its employees. I think in many ways Nokia has a small company culture and feel with all its freedoms and opportunities to influence one's own work, the advantages of its scale are also utilized. There is room for different kinds of people and ideas and they are also valued, and bringing up questions is encouraged. This leads to a strong team spirit which obviously is one of the essential factors behind good productivity and energized work days. And finally when it comes to the job itself, working with such crucial technologies is a great motivator by itself!

Hello, and thank you for your question. I would like to add my answer from my perspective. To make my answer easier to understand, I will divide it into 3 pillars. Each pillar relates to an area where Nokia makes a difference compared to other technology companies in the market. The first pillar concerns the broad range of technologies implemented and developed at Nokia. The Mobile Networks business group (BG) deals with technologies such as 4G and 5G and microwave radio links for transport networks. The Network Infrastructure BG covers technologies such as fiber and copper linear networks and optical networks, either undersea or terrestrial. The Cloud and Network Services BG is responsible for cloud software development and implementation. Finally, the Nokia Technologies BG is closely associated with new patents and general activities of the Nokia brand. Innovation plays a vital role at Nokia and for this reason, the Research and Development (R&D) department has a significant allocation of resources and great importance. The second pillar is about the working environment and culture of the people at Nokia. The company aims to have an excellent work-life balance for its employees. To achieve this, there are high ethical standards. Ethnicity, gender, age, religious and educational background, and disabilities are not a means of categorizing people at Nokia. All people are given equal access to opportunities and discrimination has no place at Nokia. In addition, Nokia is sensitive to global problems such as climate change and tries to contribute as much as possible. The third and final pillar is personal development through the training opportunities provided by Nokia. There is a learning hub where all employees have access and can request any training they want. This leads to the continuous development of digital skills and technological know-how. People working at Nokia are always up to date and this keeps them competitive in the market. From my point of view, these 3 fundamental pillars make Nokia stand out from other tech companies. I am at your disposal to discuss further any clarification that may be needed.
