If you can show transferrable skills to demonstrate your work ethic, that you have initiative, and are accomplished it would help your application. We also look for those who are keen, eager, and passionate about the industry. For example, if you are applying for a technical position, do you have personal side projects? Do you join associations? If so, what role do you contribute in those associations? What are your successes and accomplishments to date? They don't have to be relevant on a technical level; however, these key skills/attributes would definitely help all new graduates or students without professional experience show to employers additional "soft competency' skills that are just, if not, more important when hiring. Thanks!
