There hasn't been any such kind of single experience that would have made me think so, but many positive surprises for sure! However, I think the start of the work would have been even a bit smoother if I had known more about software development practices. For example, I was aware of the concept of dailies (short team status meetings every day) and most tools were at least somewhat familiar to me, but I hadn't been exposed to agile methodologies much before applying. Looking back, I think I didn't have a very precise view of what everyday work is like. However, I think that many needed skills can be learned along the way after starting in a new role.
