At Nokia we’ve always had a lot of flexibility and choice when it comes to how, where and when we work, even before the pandemic. Everyone adapted quite well to working from home on a longer term basis and as a result the ask from employees is to offer even more choice in the future. Not having to commute into the office everyday has been welcomed by many. Nokia is currently exploring how the way of working will evolve to give everyone more options in terms of where they work. If working from home is not a productive environment, then there will be the opportunity to work in an office once lockdown restrictions are lifted across the globe.

Working in virtual teams can sometimes be challenging, but we have lots of programs and resources to help teams connect to talk about wellbeing topics, such as setting boundaries so that everyone can disconnect from work, managing expectations across the team, and simply checking in on each other regularly to make sure no-one is struggling alone.

We have an open culture that encourages everyone to ask for help when they need it and to know that they will be supported when they do. If someone feels they need additional support while working from home, they can talk to their line manager, their colleagues, or connect with our Personal Support Service which provides confidential emotional support and guidance from qualified professionals.

Thank you Gail! I think it is crucial for companies to implement flexibility when it comes to working and most importantly, the incorporation of programs for the purpose of establishing a friendly environment where employees are not hesitant to ask for additional help.

Totally agree Gareth! Hopefully you saw the press release yesterday announcing Nokia's move to increase choice and flexibility for employees following COVID-19 - I think this is a great move forward: https://www.nokia.com/about-us/news/releases/2021/06/22/nokia-increases-choice-and-flexibility-for-employees-following-covid-19/
