Key Experiences

From research to empowering employees to innovate
From security regulations:

In 1992 I started my career in a team working on the foundation of the French Certification Scheme for IT Security and delivered the first Security certification in France.
in 1998 I joined the Alcatel Research and Innovation Security team.
In 2001 with a few French expats we founded the Alcatel Research Center in Ottawa, Canada. That was a great experience which lasted 4 years.
Between 2005 and 2013, with several innovative companies, we successfully founded 4 research consortiums. One of them was awarded the European Excellence Award and was showcased in the European Parliament, which made me very proud!

... to empowering employees to innovate:

In 2014 I co-founded Le Garage: a "grass-roots" innovation space for all employees to play with technologies, build their crazy ideas and think out-of-the-box.
Le Garage has become Nokia Garage and has been replicated in 25 Nokia sites across the globe! While each Nokia campus is giving a local flavor to its Nokia Garage, they all have one common goal: fostering employees' ideas and building innovative projects.
Nokia Garage is also now hosting "startups in residence" to accelerate projects based on a co-innovation approach.

Current Position

I'm the head & Co-founder of Nokia Garage
Nokia Garage: a place to foster innovation and the startup spirit.
Innovation is often symbolized by the image of a few friends toiling in a garage at night to create something new and disruptive. Many of today's industry giants were built from the modest beginning: literally in someone's garage.
Nokia Garage was launched by Bell Labs France as a place for innovation powered by Bell Labs but open and accessible to all staff. It seeks to connect and catalyze innovative projects which do not fit the mainstream product lines. Nokia offers the space for people to work on "different" projects: either alone or in groups and to share their results, both good and bad, for greater insight into "why".

In the span of 4 years, Nokia Garage has evolved and is now structured into two programs:
1. An incubation program, open to all Nokia employees, for fast prototyping and experimentation of early-stage projects
2. An acceleration program, in residence, based on the hybridization of internal teams from our Mobile Network Digital Innovation Acceleration program and external ones, including startups, partners, suppliers and student teams for co-innovation projects.

I'm based in Paris-Saclay, France.

Main Motivations

Empowering all employees to innovate based on their own ideas/projects
My role is to provide employees with resources /coaching and support their own ideas/projects. I play a role of intermediation between business units/innovation ecosystems to accelerate their ideas/projects. I might have one of the most exciting roles at Nokia: I just love facilitating the innovation stream!

Top Advice

Believe in yourself and your projects and act together
It is important to believe in your own ideas and projects and to be able to work them out. This is exactly why I created the Nokia Garage. Developing projects together is even more powerful and this is the second reason why I created the Nokia Garage :)

The more projects you contribute to, the more you will feel empowered and the more skills you will develop (both human as well as technological skills).
It's worth trying and ... trying more!
The Nokia Garage is a great enabler for you to make this happen... come and be part of the innovation game with us!

Greatest Achievement

The creation and development of the Nokia Garage
I have already described the Nokia Garage and its values. This is something I am very proud of because it is, as mentioned before, an achievement for myself and beyond as it is also a model for others to innovate and collaborate.

There are many projects and initiatives that come to mind but one of my biggest pride is the Nokia solar bike which was showcased in CES 2019 in Las Vegas, one of the best events in the world to showcase innovation.

CES is the world's gathering place for all those who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. It has served as the proving ground for innovators and breakthrough technologies for 50 years — the global stage where next-generation innovations are introduced to the marketplace.
